My husband wants some new clothes because he thinks he needs new clothes so he doesn’t look like he’s trying to dress like he’s 16. If I’m honest I have no idea what a 50 should dress like as I’m only 31 and I’ve always thought he dresses alright for his age. He does dress well and pretty stylish. What sort of clothes should he be wearing?

When a guy wears the “younger” styles of clothes, its to make him look or fell younger. There is nothing wrong with that, but there is the usual problem with the type of clothing. However, all women love their older men to wear clothing that is appealing, net and clean cut. It is not appropriate for an middle age male to wear jeans and a white t-shirt, remember the way a person dresses usually reflects their personality. for older males, pants with a simple shirt is very attractive, for more formal occasions a nice suit and dress shoes are a plus.

Some stores have what they call “personal shopper” meaning this particular person is professional in putting clothes together. You could request one with no fee what so ever but you will have that person ring you up at the end of your shopping as this goes to her/his sales for the day.
You can actually give the personal shopper a brief description as to what kind of clothing style would best look for your man and that includes his height, weight and skin color so the personal shopper would be able to have an idea as to what to pick for him.
Then when you get to that particular store you just ask for the personal shopper and he/she will bring all the outfits being gathered for your man to try on.
This will take less time and hassle for both you and your man.

I think an almost 50 year-old man typically wears polo shirts, tee shirts, button-up shirts, jeans, khakis… Basically all the men’s clothes NOT sold in the “young men’s” department. Maybe you could look through the men’s clothes on http://www.landsend.com or something for some ideas. They’re casual but mature. Not really… interesting or stylish, but it seems like older men prefer their clothes to serve a purpose, rather than grab attention.
A lot of it depends on his personality and what kind of job he has. There are classic brands that are good for his age group. Dickies brand is a go for everyone on Earth.

Button down shirts, polos, shorts, nice pants.
It doesn’t really matter what he DOES wear, just what he SHOULDNT: eg baseball caps, basketball shirts, really short shorts etc. dont try to look young. Why dont you both go to a nice mens store and ask for some assistance and the shop people will help you

try a polo shirt with a solid color blue red black orange and pants are some slacks or jeans no skinny straight.
